The new leader will be now delineating a preliminary list of strategic institutional priorities for action. These are relatively easy to address and gradually begin to form the basis of a new or ‘refreshed’ institutional strategic plan.
More significant at this stage will be the ability to identify and articulate some of the key institutional dilemmas, which will require resolution. On occasions these can be too easily brushed aside or at worst avoided - sometimes placed in the ‘too difficult to discuss’ box. Our role is to help the leadership team explore these through facilitated dialogue, allowing the new leader to participate in such processes, rather than merely chairing the sessions.
